Hair Loss Services
Every hair loss journey starts with a question — and the right answer depends on getting the right diagnosis. At Hair GP, our hair loss services are designed around that principle. Rather than offering a one-size treatment to every patient, we begin with a thorough medical assessment and build your treatment plan from what the evidence actually shows.
All services are delivered by Dr Amy, our lead clinician, at our CQC-registered clinic in Parsons Green, London. Because Hair GP is doctor-led, we can diagnose, prescribe, and monitor your treatment under one roof — without referring you elsewhere for the parts that matter most.
Below you’ll find our full range of services, from initial consultation through to ongoing treatment and surgical restoration. If you’re not sure which service you need, start with a consultation — it’s designed to give you a clear answer.
Consultations
A specialist consultation is where every treatment plan begins. Our doctor assesses your hair loss using scalp microscopy, reviews your blood work, and gives you a diagnosis and personalised treatment plan — all in a single appointment.
PMOS / PCOS Hair Loss Clinic
PCOS is now PMOS, and a doctor-led plan can help. Blood tests for androgens and insulin resistance, prescription options where they’re right, and a doctor who joins the whole syndrome up.
Hirsutism Treatment
The same hormones that thin scalp hair can grow it on the chin. Doctor-led treatment for facial hair in women — medication and holistic care for the hormonal cause, with trusted local electrolysis referrals for removal of established hair.
Hormones & Hair Review
On HRT and worried about your hair? A GMC-registered doctor looks at your hormones and your hair together, tests what matters and agrees a plan with you and your GP.
Female Hair Transplant
Honest, consult-first transplant assessment for women: who surgery genuinely helps, who it does not, and FUE or FUT planned around female hairlines. £150 consultation, refunded if you proceed.
Hair Loss Doctor London
See a GMC-registered doctor who specialises in women’s hair loss: blood tests, a diagnosis and a written plan, including prescription options where appropriate, in one 50-minute appointment, without the referral run-around.
Insurance & Your Consultation
Most insurers treat hair loss as cosmetic — but because Dr Amy is GMC-registered and the clinic is CQC-registered, Simplyhealth cash-plan members can claim back the consultation fee. The honest guide to what insurance will and won’t cover.
Hair Loss Consultation
A comprehensive 50-minute assessment including dermoscopic scalp analysis, blood test review, clinical diagnosis, and a personalised treatment plan. If treatment is right for you, your plan can include prescription options. This is the starting point for most patients — whether you’ve been losing hair for months or years.
Menopause Hair Assessment
Hair thinning at menopause involves hormonal shifts that need assessing alongside your hair. Our consultation evaluates oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid function alongside scalp changes — because HRT alone rarely resolves menopausal hair loss.
Postpartum Hair Loss Assessment
Most postpartum shedding resolves by twelve months. When it doesn’t, underlying female pattern hair loss may have been unmasked by the hormonal shift of pregnancy. Our assessment distinguishes temporary shedding from progressive thinning so you know whether to wait or act.
Diagnostics
Accurate diagnosis drives every treatment decision. We use clinical-grade tools, and we read your results with hair health in mind.
Hair Loss Blood Tests
A targeted blood panel assessing ferritin, thyroid function, vitamin D, hormones, and other markers relevant to hair health. Critically, we interpret your results against thresholds that matter for hair follicles — not just standard normal ranges. A ferritin of 15 µg/L is technically normal but far too low for healthy hair growth.
TrichoTest Genetic Testing
A DNA-based test that analyses genetic markers related to hair loss and treatment response. Results help your doctor plan treatment around your genetic profile.
Medical Treatments
Hair GP is a prescribing clinic. Our doctor can prescribe, adjust and monitor medical treatment for hair loss where it’s right for you. All treatments are tailored to your diagnosis and monitored over time.
Medical treatment
Hair GP is doctor-led, so your treatment plan can include prescription options where they’re right for you, chosen around your diagnosis and hormonal profile and monitored over time.
PRP & PRF
Platelet-rich plasma therapy uses your own blood, given as injections into the scalp. Sessions take approximately 30 minutes with no downtime.
Polynucleotide Therapy
An injectable treatment for the scalp. Polynucleotides work differently from PRP and can be combined with other treatments in your plan.
Low Level Light Therapy
A non-invasive treatment using medical-grade light devices, used alongside other treatments in your plan.
Surgical Hair Restoration
When medical treatment alone can’t restore density in areas of significant thinning, hair transplant surgery offers a permanent solution. Our doctor performs both major transplant techniques at our London clinic, and every surgical patient receives a full medical assessment first to ensure underlying causes are addressed before surgery.
FUE Hair Transplant
Follicular Unit Extraction — individual follicles are harvested from the donor area and transplanted to areas of thinning. No linear scar, shorter recovery time, and natural-looking results. Suitable for women with stable hair loss who have sufficient donor hair.
FUT Hair Transplant
Follicular Unit Transplant — a strip of donor tissue is removed, dissected into individual grafts, and transplanted. Allows a higher graft count in a single session, making it suitable for patients who need maximum coverage. A thin linear scar is hidden within existing hair.

Message us on WhatsApp or give us a ring. We can't give clinical advice over a message, but we can tell you how the consultation works, what it costs and whether Dr Amy is the right person for you. No obligation, nothing to prepare.
No — you can book directly. If you’re using private health insurance, some policies do ask for a referral first, so check yours; our insurance page explains how that works. We see patients aged 18 and over.
A doctor takes your full history, examines your scalp under magnification (trichoscopy), and arranges blood tests where they’re needed. You leave with a diagnosis — or a clear plan to reach one — and a written treatment plan built around it, not a one-size-fits-all prescription.

Not Sure Where to Start?
If you’re not sure which type of hair loss you have — or whether you need medical treatment, surgery, or something else entirely — a consultation is the place to begin. Many women have more than one type of hair loss contributing to their thinning, and only a clinical assessment with dermoscopy can distinguish between them.
Every consultation at Hair GP is with a doctor who specialises in women’s hair loss. You’ll leave with a diagnosis, a clear explanation of your options, and a treatment plan — not a sales pitch.
